Details

The contest is open to all Texas State students, staff, faculty and alumni.
 
The deadline for entries is midnight on November 21.
 
The first 30 attendees will recieve a limited edition 2010 Bobcat Film Festival T-Shirt.
 
Winners will be revealed at the Bobcat Tube Film Festival, December 3 beginning at 2 p.m. on the 11th floor of the J.C. Kellam Administration Building.
 
To submit your video, upload it to your personal YouTube page and e-mail the link to socialnet@txstate.edu with your name and the name of your video.
 
Any style of production is welcome. Just remember to use good taste and the three requirements.
 
Entries will be judged on originality, adherence to the theme, technical quality and positive representation of Texas State.
 
Be sure to read the complete rules below.

The Legal Stuff

Important: Please read these rules before entering the contest sponsored by the Office of University Marketing at Texas State University-San Marcos (“Texas State”).
 
By participating in the Contest or otherwise submitting any Content (as defined below), you (a) agree to be bound by these Official Rules and (b) represent and warrant that you satisfy all of the eligibility requirements in paragraph 1 below that you have all authority necessary to bind yourself to these Official Rules. For purposes of these Official Rules, the term "you" means you individually.
 

1. Eligibility

The Contest is open only to students, staff, faculty and alumni at Texas State. If you are not a student, staff member, faculty member or former student, you are not eligible to win a prize, and Texas State reserves the right not to award prizes to you.
 
To be eligible to win a prize, your entry must be completed and received by Texas State in the format designated below and in Sponsor's Content Submission Rules for Contests (”Submission Rules"), and you must have agreed to the Sponsor Contest Submission Agreement ("Submission Agreement").
 
All applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Submissions are limited to one per person.

 

2. Disclaimer.

Texas State will not be responsible for: (a) any late, lost, misrouted, garbled or distorted or damaged transmissions or entries; (b) telephone, electronic, hardware, software, network, Internet, or other computer- or communications-related malfunctions or failures; (c) any Contest disruptions, injuries, losses or damages caused by events beyond the control of Sponsor; or (d) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Contest.
 

3. Contest Period.

The Contest begins at 12:01 a.m. on June 4, 2010 and concludes at midnight on November 21, 2010. All entries must be posted to YouTube and a confirming e-mail sent to socialnet@txstate.edu by the entry submission deadline (the "Deadline"). All entries must be received by the Deadline to be eligible to win a prize.
 

4. Guidelines for Videos

Entries must be no longer than five minutes. All entries should portray positive images of Texas State. All videos must contain the image of a star and must be recorded at either the San Marcos campus or at the Round Rock Higher Education Center.
 

5. Prizes

 
Entrants will submit videos for the Contest by the appropriate deadline. Winners will be notified in advance of the Bobcat Tube Film Festival, where the prizes will be awarded and the winning videos shown.
 

6. Odds; Taxes; Etc.

Odds of winning a prize depend on the number and quality of eligible entries received. All federal, state and local taxes associated with the receipt or use of any prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners. All prizes will be awarded. Prizes are not transferable. No substitutions or exchanges of any prizes will be permitted.
 

7. Identity of Entrant

In the event of a dispute about the identity of the entrant, entries made online will be declared to have been made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. An authorized account holder is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g. business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. The potential winner may be required to provide Texas State with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the winning entry.
 

8. How to Enter.

To enter, upload the video to a personal or group site at YouTube.com and send an e-mail listing the URL to socialnet@txstate.edu. The e-mail must include the entrant’s full name, mailing address, e-mail address and date of birth (month and year only).
 
An entry into the Contest consists of a complete e-mail and a video posted to YouTube. All requested information must be provided for the entry to be valid.
 

9. Contest Judging.

Videos will be judged by a panel of judges designated by the Office of University Marketing. Judges will determine, in their sole discretion, the winners.
 

10. License for Entries.

Entrants hereby acknowledge that they have read, understand and agree to the terms and conditions of the Submission Agreement. Entry Materials submitted to Sponsor in connection with the Contest will not be returned to entrants.
 

11. Non-Infringing Entry Materials.

Entrants hereby represent and warrant that they have all necessary rights and permissions to submit Entry Materials, including without limitation the associated Content, and that the use and submission of the Content and Entry Materials in connection with the Contest do not violate, misappropriate or infringe any copyright, trademark, patent, right of publicity or privacy, or any other proprietary right of any other person or entity.
 

12. General Release.

By entering the Contest, the entrant releases Texas State from any liability whatsoever, and waive any and all causes of action, related to any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the Contest or delivery, misdelivery, acceptance, possession, use of or inability to use any prize (including, without limitation, claims, costs, injuries, losses and damages related to personal injuries, death, damage to or destruction of property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation or portrayal in a false light, whether intentional or unintentional), whether under a theory of contract, tort (including negligence), warranty or other theory.
 

13. Use of Winner's Name, Likeness, etc.

Except where prohibited by law, entry into the Contest constitutes permission to use each winner's name, address, likeness and/or prize information, without limitation, for promotional purposes without further permission or compensation. As a condition of being awarded any prize, except where prohibited by law, winners may be required to execute an additional written consent to the use of their name, address, likeness and/or prize information, without limitation, for promotional purposes without further permission or compensation.
 

14. Affidavit & Release.

As a condition of being awarded any prize, winners will be required to execute and deliver to Texas State a signed affidavit of eligibility and acceptance of these Official Rules and liability release.
 

15. Winners List; Rules Request.

For a copy of the winners list, send a stamped, self-addressed, business-size envelope within one (1) year after the Deadline to Texas State at this address: Office of University Marketing, 601 University Drive, San Marcos, TX 78666 and specify the relevant Contest. To obtain a copy of these Official Rules visit or send a stamped, self-addressed business-size envelope to Sponsor at the address listed.
 

17. Copyright Notice.

The Contest and all accompanying materials are copyright © 2010 by Texas State. All rights reserved.
 

18. Miscellaneous.

The Contest and these Official Rules will be governed, construed and interpreted under the laws of the State of Texas. Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of Texas State, which are final and binding in all respects. Sponsor reserves the right to change these Official Rules at any time, in its sole discretion, and to suspend or cancel the Contest or any entrant's participation in the Contest should viruses, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes beyond Sponsor's control affect the administration, security or proper play of the Contest or Sponsor otherwise becomes (as determined in its sole discretion) incapable of running the Contest as planned.
 
Entrants who violate these Official Rules, tamper with the operation of the Contest or engage in any conduct that is detrimental or unfair to Texas State, the Contest or any other entrant (in each case as determined in Texas State’s sole discretion) are subject to disqualification from entry into the Contest. Texas State reserves the right to lock out persons whose eligibility is in question or who have been disqualified or are otherwise ineligible to enter the Contest.
